"...feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do."
2 Nephi 32:3
I'm sure you've heard this before. Have you ever wondered to yourself, "Well that's great and all, but how do I even do that?" You're in luck because today, we'll discuss three ideas to help you feast upon the words of Christ so that you may have the guidance you need to keep on walking the covenant path!
1. Read the Book of Mormon everyday
Reading the Book of Mormon everyday is so important, because this book is like no other. It truly testifies of Jesus Christ and contains the fullness of the everlasting gospel. The Prophet Joseph Smith said: "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." That is why we're so often counseled to read it everyday, it powerfully invites the Light of Christ to work within us! It can be anywhere from a couple verses to a couple chapters, studying straight through the book or studying topically- what matters is you read, ponder, and apply everyday.
2. Listen to a General Conference talk everyday
The Lord communicates with us through our appointed and inspired leaders every General Conference, what a blessing it is to hear what He would have us hear through them and their talks! Listening to a General Conference talk everyday might seem daunting at first if you're one to want to take notes on everything, but what's important is that you be still and ponder how you can apply what you learn. You can listen in the morning as you're walking your dogs, while you're getting ready for work, driving, running errands, doing chores, or just before your daily scripture study- whatever works for you. As long as you remember that the Savior's words are being spoken and you have the time to listen and value them, you can confidently know that you are doing one more thing to feast upon the words of Christ. And we can know He sees our efforts!
3. Journal the promptings and revelation you receive from the Holy Ghost
The Holy Ghost speaks to us what the Lord Jesus Christ would have us know and do. Journaling can help us to remember what has been spoken to us so that we can refrence, reflect upon, and apply what we learn through the Spirit. You don't have to do this everyday like the other two suggestions, but do keep your journal on hand because you'll never know when you feel inspired or need to reference something you wrote down!
All of these suggestions are that, just suggestions. But I do pray that you pick up at least one of them, or even all of them, so that you may see the joy and blessings of feasting upon the words of Christ. Remember to be sincere and diligent in your efforts, and know that the Lord wants you to help you. He will help you. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer, amen.
